Tanzania Safaris
09 DAYS TANZANIA LUXURY SAFARI
You will be picked up from the airport by one of our drivers and conveyed to your accommodation in Arusha where you will stay overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. You will have time to explore the City of Arusha and other places nearby.
Accommodation: Mount Meru Hotel
In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel by our personal safari guide. You will set out for Tarangire National Park across gently rolling Maasai plains with scattered acacia trees. The park is well known for its large elephant herds and is also host to a multitude of other creatures. From the open roof of your safari jeep, experience the seasonal swamps, savanna, and life-giving Tarangire River endeavoring to encounter a multitude of creatures from zebras to wildebeests, buffalos, elephants and giraffes, to name but a few. It is possible you'll see lions stalking prey or leopards relaxing in the trees above.
After our extensive game drive, you'll depart to drive to one of our mid-range partner lodges for dinner in a tasteful restaurant.
Accommodation: Manyara Serena
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for game driving and a picnic lunch. This small but scenic park covers an area of only 330 sq km of which up to 200 sq km (77 sq miles) is made up of the lake when water levels are high. Lake Manyara is an excellent place for bird watching and a good area to find elephants, giraffes, zebras, baboons, warthogs, buffalos and maybe even a legendary tree-climbing lion! At some point during your game drive, you should get off your vehicle at the hippo pool to stretch your legs and observe the hippos here. Later we will drive to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Accommodation: Africa safari camp
After an early breakfast, you'll depart for the most famous national park in the world. The drive itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in the local language, "endless plains." The park has 6,900 sq miles and for most of it the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration where 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes cross annually. As for big cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous River Crossings having been filmed in this park.
Accommodation: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
Today, you will head out early on your morning game drive for a chance to witness a magnificent African sunrise in the bush. You will head out after a cup of coffee and experience the wilderness and its magnificent creatures as they wake up among the dew-covered grasses. Later, you will have your full breakfast at the park without forgetting to enjoy lunch in the middle of the park. In the afternoon, you will head out once more for another chance to explore the plains in search of African wildlife as you exit the park.
Accommodation: Seronera wildlife Lodge
Eraly in the morning drive through Serengeti and spend the day observing wildlife in the Seronera Valley. The Seronera Valley offers lots of wildlife throughout the year including carnivores like cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and lions. You'll also see ungulates including buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, warthogs and zebras. Do you know how to distinguish a Grant gazelle from a Thomson gazelle? Both gazelles have a white rump. The rump of the Thomson gazelle, however, is bordered by a thin black horizontal stripe below the paler brown one. Furthermore, the tail of the Thomson gazelle is entirely black, while the Grant gazelle’s white rump patch extends above the tail. Ask your guide about this and more as you continue to your accommodation.
Accommodation: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
Enjoy another game drive in Serengeti National Park before continuing to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which was separated from Serengeti in 1959. The resident Maasai in Serengeti National Park were relocated to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where they still live today in harmony with wildlife and nature. Did you know that the Ngorongoro Conservation Area combines a large variety of topographical features and that there are nine different craters within its boundaries? Your guide will happily explain more about this outstanding destination of 8,292sq km. Proceed to your accommodation on top of the crater rim and enjoy a splendid view of the caldera before the night breaks with a sky full of stars. Or you can continue driving to your accommodation.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
When you first see Ngorongoro Crater, it looks like a forgotten world. A pristine wilderness is concealed by the steep volcanic walls, including sweeping savannahs, pockets of acacia woodland, and glistening lakes and swamps. The crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. The drive down into the crater is an adventure in itself, and when you reach the crater floor, you quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The crater provides the best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands. After an afternoon game drive, you will drive to your accommodation in Arusha.
