Your exciting Uganda trekking adventure begins with a scenic road trip from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of most treasured natural wonders. After an early breakfast, you’ll set off southwest through vibrant countryside, enjoying sweeping views of rolling hills, lush plantations, and charming rural communities.
Your first stop will be at the equator monument, a symbolic and photogenic point where the northern and southern hemispheres meet. Take a few moments to stretch, snap photos, and explore local craft markets selling handmade souvenirs. Continue your drive through the districts of Masaka and Mbarara, stopping for a hearty lunch in one of the bustling towns along the way. The journey offers a fascinating glimpse into daily life in with scenic roadside markets and welcoming locals.
By late afternoon or early evening, you’ll arrive at Ruhija, one of Bwindi’s main trekking sectors. Check in at Ruhija Community Camp, a cozy eco-lodge nestled at the forest’s edge, offering warm hospitality and serene forest views. Unwind from the journey, enjoy a traditional Ugandan dinner, and rest up for the thrilling day ahead.

Today marks the highlight of your trekking safari. After an early breakfast, head to the Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers. You’ll learn about gorilla behavior, trekking etiquette, and conservation efforts before embarking on your once-in-a-lifetime encounter with gentle giants.
Trek deep into the dense rainforest, navigating steep slopes and thick vegetation. The trek can take 3 to 4 hours (or more), depending on the movement of the gorilla family you're tracking. Along the way, you’ll enjoy sightings of forest birds, butterflies, and other wildlife native to Uganda.
When you finally meet the gorillas, you’ll spend a magical hour observing them as they eat, play, and interact. It’s a humbling and emotional moment—one that makes a premier destination for wildlife lovers around the world.
After the trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved hot lunch. In the late afternoon, you may choose an optional cultural visit to a nearby village to learn about the Batwa community, Uganda’s indigenous forest people.

After breakfast, depart Bwindi and travel to Lake Bunyonyi, one of most scenic and serene destinations. The drive offers breathtaking views of highlands, dotted with terraced farms and picturesque villages.
Upon arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, check in at Byona Amagara Lodge, beautifully located along the lakeshore. Spend the rest of the day at leisure—relax by the water, take a swim, or simply enjoy the cool breeze and panoramic views.
Optional activities include a canoeing adventure to visit some of Lake Bunyonyi’s 29 islands, each with its own fascinating folklore. You may also take a guided nature walk or enjoy birdwatching, as the area is home to over 200 bird species.
